Epileptic woman, 23, flown to hospital after collapsing in Lake District
A WOMAN collapsed and suffered an epileptic fit while walking with an organised group near Ullswater.
Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was called to help the 23-year-old Lancashire woman at 2.36pm today.
The group was on the lakeshore path between Howtown and Glenridding when she collapsed.
Members of her party reported the incident to the police who called out the rescue team.
An air and land ambulance were also mobilised.
The team reached the casualty via the lake using its rescue boat - the quickest means, the team said, to access many parts of the lakeshore path.
Rescuers placed the woman on a stretcher and took her by boat to the air ambulance, which flew her to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.
