Melting snow and rain could lead to flooding

WEATHER experts have issued another warning for residents of Cumbria, North Lancashire and North Yorkshire.

With the snow melting and torrential rain falling overnight on Saturday, the Met Office says there is a risk of flooding due to excess surface water and rising river levels.

The effects of the snow, which fell on Friday, melting as temperatures increased could be witnessed in Booths car park, Kendal, yesterday afternoon, with drivers and pedestrians having to be extra vigilant.

Today will see rain across much of the region, with temperatures reaching a maximum of 6 degrees centigrade. The rain is set to stay for the rest of the week, with some sunshine expected on Wednesday and Thursday.
