ORGANISERS of the annual Ulverston WalkFest have released the programme for this year’s ten-day event, which will run from Saturday, April 27 to Monday, May 6.

It has been chosen so that there are walks to appeal to all ages and abilities – many of them taking in local and industrial history to give an insight to the heritage of the area.

Other walks take to the surrounding hills and fells of the Duddon and Rusland Valleys or have an activity focus such as sketching and wildlife observation.

Each will be led by a volunteer walk leader and wherever possible the starting point can be reached using public transport.

The WalkFest also has a number of supporting events including a talk by broadcaster Eric Robson on Wainwright Redefined and by local author Paddy Dillon on the Cumbria Way.
