TRIBES were triumphant as they wowed their fans from the North West at Preston’s excellent 53 Degrees venue.

They were supported by Sheffield four-piece Blue Lip Feel, who have toured with Morecambe's The Heartbreaks.

They put in a faultless performance and showcased their guitar heavy sound, which is reminiscent of early Kings Of Leon and '70s era Rolling Stones.

Their confident set was an added bonus for members of the audience who got there early.

Tribes took to the stage at 9pm and, opening with the anthemic When My Day Comes, they gave an awe-inspiring display of how to absolutely nail a gig.

Charismatic lead singer Johnny Lloyd was in great spirits, flashing smiles at the antics of the crowd and relishing the chance to try out new tracks from forthcoming album Wish To Scream.

The pick of these was Dancehall, which they performed to the packed Calling Out tent during their headline set at last summer’s Kendal Calling festival.

Recent free download Wrapped Up In A Carpet sounded incredible, as did new single How The Other Half Live, their merits maximised by the fantastic acoustics of 53 Degrees.

And there was also room for some fan favourites from their superb debut album Baby, including the already classic tunes We Were Children, Half Way Home and Corner of an English Field.

After an encore of the emotion-soaked Coming Of Age, they were gone and the venue was buzzing as fans discussed the fact they had been lucky to witness something extra special in such an intimate venue, which continues to pull in great acts - Jake Bugg and The Cribs just two of the acts heading to the Lancashire town this year.
