Man keeps hold of licence despite totting up 13 points
11:36am Friday 8th February 2013 in News
A MAN has kept hold of his driving licence despite totting up 13 points for motoring offences.
George Hunter, 34, pleaded guilty before Kendal magistrates after driving a transit van northbound along the M6 without insurance or a licence.
He had previously been handed six points for driving without insurance and magistrates gave him another seven for the latest two offences, which took place on August 3 last year.
Usually 12 points would mean an automatic ban from the road.
But the dad-of-three did not have his licence revoked, after he told magistrates that he needed it for his work as a carpet-cutter.
He said: “I’ve got to deliver rugs and pick up carpet rollings to make the rugs.
“If I cannot do that I’m out of a job.
“I’ve got three children dependent on me and my wife works for me.”
He was fined a total of £250.
