ONE of Ulverston's biggest employers has pledged money to help the town in its annual spring clean up.
Glaxo Smith Kline have donated £7,000 to the town council so they can purchase a high pressure machine that will be used to clean the streets of graffiti, chewing gum and dirt.
Speaking at a Ulverston Town Council meeting tonight (Monday), Coun John Clough said: "We need to spend money on sprucing up the town and making it look a little nicer.
"It's an exceptional amount to give and I hope it will make a big difference and make the town brighter and more appealing.
"This is just the start and we will approach other businesses in the area to see if they can help."
Local children have also been drafted in to help the spring clean by designing posters to advertise the event in the streets.
Coun Clough added that GSK have also promised that staff members will come into the community to physically help with the clean.
The spring clean up starts on March 21.
