Accident closes the A6 south of Shap

THE A6 is temporarily closed between Selside and Shap Wells following a three vehicle collision.
It happened south of Shap just before Hooks Brow and was reported to police at 12.46pm today . The accident involved a silver Skoda, a silver Mondeo and a Volvo heavy goods vehicle. Emergency services are currently on scene and the air ambulance has been deployed.
The extent of injuries is unknown at this time.
Delays are anticipated in the area and motorists are urged to use the M6 while the emergency services tend to the scene, or wait until the road is cleared.
