Windermere man admits grievous bodily harm charge
9:28am Tuesday 19th February 2013 in News
An unemployed man from Windermere has admitted seriously injuring another man by kicking him.
Reece Andrew Barnes, 20, of Woodland Road, pleaded guilty at Carlisle Crown Court to inflicting grievous bodily harm to Gary Hunt in an incident on September 15 last year.
But he denied the more serious offence of causing grievous bodily harm with intent to do so.
The prosecution was given more time to decide whether to pursue the more serious charge.
If it does, Barnes will go on trial later in the year.
If it does not, witnesses will still have to give evidence at a fact-finding hearing in front of a judge because, even though Barnes has admitted the lesser offence, the prosecution does not accept the basis on which he has done so.
Barnes is likely to be back in court on April 25.
In the meantime he was remanded on bail.
