A NEW arts festival for the Lake District has been praised after pulling in hundreds of art lovers and novices.

The two-day Sine Dubio Festival of Art took place at Low Wood Bay, on the shores of Windermere, showcasing some of northern England’s best emerging talent across a variety of genres.

Sine Dubio means Without Doubt and was organised by the Carnforth-based arts company of the same name.

It featured art by sculptors and painters, talks by art professors, as well as other interactive elements including workshops, and a life-drawing class.

Sophia Newton, of Sine Dubio, said: “We pulled together a fantastic group of emerging and established artists who work in a wide range of mediums and that gave the festival a very eclectic feel.

“The artists and visitors mixed well over the weekend and it was great way for people to get up close to artists and see them at work.”

Nevil Jeffery, manager of Low Wood Bay, said: “The festival was a first for us and we really enjoyed the experience of welcoming such a variety of extremely talented artists to Low Wood Bay.

"The art was well received and we will certainly look into hosting similar events in the future.”
