A PARAGLIDER was airlifted to hospital with back and chest injuries this afternoon after crashing on Carrock Fell, north east of Keswick.

After the accident at 2.20pm, paramedics assessed the man who is in his 40s and from Penrith, and treated him at the scene.

He was then carried off the fell and flown to Cumberland Infirmary at Carlisle.

His condition was described as stable and his injuries non life-threatening.

Only birds were truly meant to fly!!
