Hundreds set to dive for debris in Windermere

MORE than 500 people are expected to converge on Windermere on Saturday for what could be the biggest debris dive in the world.
Led by Friends of the Lake District patron and broadcaster Paul Rose, 300 divers from all over the country will dive off Bowness to retrieve litter from the bed of the lake – while a team of shore-based volunteers will sort out what is collected.
Teams will make a series of dives from the Royal Windermere Yacht Club to Ferry Nab and some of the litter will be transformed into sculptures by groups of school children from Langdale and Hawkshead Primary Schools, the Lakes School, Troutbeck Bridge, and John Ruskin School, Coniston.
