The M6 has been fully reopened following a fatal collision on the northbound carriageway yesterday.
Emergency repairs between junctions 35 and 36 have been completed, including resurfacing of the road.
Eight vehicles - five HGVs, a van and two cars were involved in a pile-up on the carriageway around 8.15am near the Lancaster Canal bridge north of Burton-in-Kendal services. Two lorry drivers died at the scene.
Following the removal of the vehicles from the road, a police accident investigation and clearance of debris from the scene, lanes two and three of the carriageway re-opened at 6.45pm.
Damage to the surface of the carriageway in lane one meant it and the hard shoulder remained closed into the evening, but work to resurface the road was completed overnight.
