POLICE in Barrow have arrested an Ulverston man following reports of an attempted armed robbery this afternoon.

At 1.30pm officers received reports that staff at Greenodd petrol station were threatened by a man carrying a knife.

The staff said they shouted for help and the man made off empty-handed in the direction of Millom. No-one was injured.

A 20-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and is currently helping police with their enquiries.
