A lucky driver escaped unharmed after his lorry flipped over and went through the barrier on the M6 near Tebay last night.
The incident, which took place at 5.51pm, took place on the northbound carriageway between junction 38 and 39, just north of Tebay services.
Despite leaving 100 feet of barrier damaged, the driver was left unharmed.
Duty inspector Phil Davidson said the driver had managed to get himself out through the roof.
“There was no road closure, and the repair work is now up to Cumbria Highways,” he added.
