Trapped man rescued after car overturns on roundabout

A MAN had to be rescued by firefighters after his car ended up upside down on a roundabout early this morning.

Two fire crews from Milnthorpe and Kendal attended the accident at the Brettargh Holt roundabout at 2.12am.

Watch manager Tony Harrison said: “The driver was travelling eastwards from Barrow and apparently lost control of the vehicle on the roundabout.

“He overturned and was on the embankment in the centre of the roundabout. The driver was trapped inside the vehicle and couldn’t get himself out.

"The first indication was that he was suffering from some facial injuries.

“Fire fighters released the man from the car using cutting equipment and he was able to scramble out to be treated by paramedics at the scene.”

The road was closed for a short time while the rescue was underway.
