FIVE up-and-coming dancers from South Lakeland are set for a taste of fame, after being chosen to perform in a professional production of Swan Lake.
The youngsters – Olivia Allen from Kendal, Clarissa Bousfield from Arnside, Claudia Bull from Greyrigg, Lauren Hayton from Kendal and Megan Miller from Stainton – were chosen at audition from among 240 hopefuls to appear in the production at the Preston Charter Theatre alongside the prestigious English Youth Ballet.
The young dancers will perform alongside the EYB’s international principal artists in a professional production, gaining an insight into what life is like as a professional ballet dancer.
British principal ballerina, Julianne Rice Oxley, said: “I feel very privileged to be a principal with the EYB as I get to work with some of the UK’s most talented young dancers.
“I find them incredibly inspiring!”
The young cast are currently engaged in rehearsals at Walton-le-Dale Arts College and High School in a 10-day intensive rehearsal process.
They will appear in three performances of Swan Lake on April 5 and 6.
