Youth groups in Kendal, Natland, Oxenholme and Burneside to share £11,000

YOUNG people in Kendal, Natland, Oxenholme and Burneside are to benefit from a share of £11,000.
The grants have been awarded by members of Cumbria County Council’s South Lakeland Local Committee.
The £11,643 of grant money comes through its children and young people working group which is tasked to improve opportunities and activities.
The following organisations will now benefit:
Young Cumbria - £2,811 towards the development of a Junior Youth Club in Hallgarth, Kendal.
Bluebell Foundation – £2,773 towards a project to support children and young people who have suffered bereavement.
Natland and Oxenholme Pre-School - £2,523 towards a providing a canopy to provide an external covered play area. The local community will also have access to these facilities.
Lakes Leisure – £1,716 towards a sports activities programme delivered through after-school clubs for children in rural communities.
Buzz Club Kendal (Leonard Cheshire Disability) - £1,047 towards the purchase of equipment, including a shed for storing the equipment when not in use.
Friends of St Oswald’s School Burneside – £773 towards the cost of hiring a mobile Skate/Scooter skatepark, equipment and instructors for a weekend event for young people from the village of Burneside and surrounding areas.
Cllr Clare Feeney-Johnson, chair of the local committee's children and young people’s working group, said: "These grants will go a long way to helping children in South Lakeland. Supporting organisations that give opportunities to young people is fundamental to their growth.
“These grants constitute some of the most valuable and rewarding work we’re involved in and I hope our young people take full advantages of these opportunities.”
