Furness man charged with firearms offence after Barrow incident

CUMBRIA Police have charged a man with a firearms offence in connection with an alleged incident which occurred on Island Road, Barrow.

Officers were called to a report of a male being in possession of a firearm at around 9pm on February 25.

Several armed and unarmed officers were deployed to the area.

Keith Raymond Hechle, 40, of Ferry Road, Barrow Island, has been charged with possession a firearm, Cumbria Police said.

A spokesman added: "As a result of ongoing enquires Hechle has also been charged with two other offences.

"These offences relate to possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence on October 29, 2012 in relation to an incident with occurred on Dalton Road, Barrow, and criminal damage to a flat on Ferry Road, Barrow Island, which occurred between August 2012 and February 2013."

Hechle was due to appear before Furness magistrates today.
