S ILVERDALE is such a lovely place to visit, with its spectacular views over Morecambe Bay and beyond.

Recently one of my relatives had a birthday party, so my girlfriend and I joined in with the celebrations in style.

The following day - with me suffering from a mild hangover - we were looking for somewhere to enjoy some good old fashioned pub grub to put us back on the road towards reality.

And we found that somewhere at The Silverdale Hotel, a traditional pub with a modern feel – if that makes sense – and all the necessary requirements for a relaxing lazy afternoon, such as a relaxed atmosphere. pleasant staff and, if you’re so inclined, a pool table and TV showing sport.

A pint of Diet Coke (£2.55) was swiftly ordered as we sat down to decide on what to eat. There was a good choice of food available – you can pick a meal from the lunchtime, main or smaller portions menus, or, on a Sunday, there is the, yes, you guessed it, Sunday Lunch menu.

Each of these menus has a good range of food within them, whether it be a sandwich, jacket potato or something more hearty such as Cumberland sausage.

We stuck to the lunchtime menu and both went for the cheeseburger, served with fried onions, salad garnish with honey mustard dressing and chips (£5.75).

We added melted creamy Lancashire cheese (50p) and, feeling peckish, we ordered and extra portion of chips and some onion rings.

It was just what I fancied, and I wasn’t disappointed.

* Total cost of meal for two main courses plus extra chips and onion rings, excluding drinks, was £17.20
