FOOD enthusiasts are gathering today (Saturday) for the inaugural Grizebeck Grub Fest Spring Food Fair.

The new Community Hall at Grizebeck is hosting the free event which will feature food galore at its which is being held from 11am to 3pm. 

The line-up in place includes a grand opening by the Broughton Village Bakery, a finalist of ITV1’s ‘Britain’s Best Bakery’, at 11.30am, and a chef demonstration by Craig Sherrington, owner of the General Burgoyne and joint winner of Cumbria Life’s Dining Pub of the Year 2013, at 12.30pm.

There will also be a sausage making demonstration by Gary McClure of Woodland Free Range Meats, holder of the Guinness World Record for the biggest cooked continuous sausage ring.

 

Other stalls include the Smokery at Haverigg, Wooden Spoon Fudge Company, cupcakes by Jan’s Cakes, Urswicck Munchies, Coniston Brewery and Ulverston Brewing Company as well as locally produced chutneys and jams. 

There will also be a raffle with some great ‘foodie’ prizes up for grabs. Completed in summer 2011, the Community Hall at Grizebeck is a modern spacious and airy hall in an easily accessible location set in beautiful countryside with plenty of good off-road parking.
