COMMUNITIES in South Lakeland have benefitted from more than £60,000 in extra funding.
Thirteen councillors from Cumbria County Council's South Lakeland local committee pledged the money to schemes and groups in the region.
Chairman Coun Geoff Cook said: "These grants cover a range of projects that will benefit many people across South Lakeland and help make a difference to the communities we serve."
In Ulverston, £3,000 will help resolve drainage issues in Soutergate, plus £6,500 towards the cost of a replacement bus shelter in Croftlands, and improvements to the Bardsea showfield for the North Lonsdale Show.
Kent Estuary Division received £2,260 for three projects including felling and re-planting of trees at Owlet Ash in Milnthorpe and tree removals in Arnside.
A further £13,365 will go to four projects in Upper Kent including improvements to Burneside playground.
