MEMBERS of Kendal Mountain Search and Rescue are celebrating its 60th birthday today (Saturday) in Kendal's Birdcage.
The team is also marking the National Mountain and Cave Rescue Awareness Weekend and holding its annual town centre collection.
Personnel, vehicles and equipment will be at the Birdcage until 4pm, subject to callouts, and are teamed up with the resuscitation team, from Westmorland General Hospital, who will demonstrate CPR life-saving techniques.
Members of the public will be encouraged to come for a chat and take part in a CPR challenge.
Team leader Eddie Harrison said “This gives us an opportunity to show the public how their generous donations are used to save life both on the fells and in the larger community generally”.
