A 65-YEAR-OLD north Cumbrian woman died after falling more than 100m while descending from Black Crag, at Borrowdale.
Jacqueline Jackson, from Heads Nook, Brampton, had completed the Troutdale Pinnacle route with another climber but slipped on her way down and suffered multiple injuries.
Members of Keswick Mountain Rescue Team were called out to the incident, which took place at 8.15pm Thursday.
A spokesman said: "Many of the Team at the time was involved in a navigation practice on Grange Fell, but there were enough members to mount an immediate response.
"Those on exercise were swiftly redeployed and both Team doctors attended. Unfortunately, the casualty's injuries were fatal."
