SNOW returned to the Lake District overnight.
This picture of the Nethermost Pike, Helvellyn was taken by mountaineer Alan Hinkes from Patterdale this morning.
But it may be good news as Matt Taylor of the Met Office optimistically tweeted: "Snow was widely reported on 2nd June 1975. Summer that followed was the 7th driest/4th sunniest/9th warmest on record in the UK."
The Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year and the official beginning of Summer is just around the corner, although it seems the weather is yet to realise.
