A KENDAL pub has been slapped with a £130 fine for selling alcohol outside permitted hours and allowing disorderly conduct on licensed premises.
Police were called to The Bridge Hotel in March following an assault on a man who was taken to hospital with head injuries.
As a result, Emily Kate Higham from the pub appeared at South Lakeland Magistrates' Court on May 15. As well as the fine, the business has also had to pay court costs and a victim surcharge.
Officers are now urging licensed premises to be responsible.
A spokesman said: "Police were called on March 15 at 6.33am following a disturbance which resulted in a man, aged 26, being taken to hospital after an assault at the hotel.
"He suffered head injuries that required a precautionary CT scan."
Inspector Paul Latham said: "We actively target alcohol related violence, and look for help from the night time economy to support us in this work.
"I am disappointed in this instance that the Bridge Hotel allowed disorderly conduct on their site.
"We work hard to ensure the area is a safe and pleasant place to go for a night out and enjoy a couple of drinks, and any disorderly conduct will be taken extremely seriously."
He urged anyone with concerns to call Cumbria Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
