MEMBERS of the public will have an opportunity to speak directly to the Leader of South Lakeland District Council at a series of surgeries across the district.

Coun Peter Thornton is inviting members of the public to come and share their views about the council and he will be joined by the Chief Executive of SLDC, Lawrence Conway. The first surgery will be held in Kendal on Wednesday June 19 at the Birdcage, at the top of Finkle Street, from 12.30pm until 2.30pm. There will also be surgeries at Windermere Windermere Library on June 28, from 1pm to 3pm; at Kendal Town Hall on July 10 from 1pm to 3pm and at Ulverston Town Hall on July 18, from 12pm to 2pm.

“It is important that as a council we listen to the views of the residents here in South Lakeland and answer their questions and find out what their issues are,” said Coun Thornton. “There is no need for people to make an appointment, if they have something to say or if they have an issue they want to discuss, they should just pop along to one of the surgeries in Kendal, Windermere or Ulverston. Lawrence and I are keen to hear any suggestions or ideas that people may have and we will endeavour to answer people’s questions on the day.” For more information, please check the SLDC website at www.southlakeland.gov.uk.
