Man, 53, hurt in 'unprovoked assault' in Kirkby Stephen

A MAN was the victim of an unprovoked assault in Kirkby Stephen.

Cumbria Police said the 53-year-old, from Newcastle, was attacked between 11.30pm and midnight on Friday (June 28) in the Market Square and North Road area.

The victim sustained facial injuries.

His alleged attacker was described as being in his late teens, around 6ft tall, of light to medium build, with fair, spiky hair.

He was said to be wearing a short-sleeved blue t-shirt.

Witnesses to the assault or anyone who has information about the incident have been asked to contact PC Campbell at Cumbria Police on 101.
