Couple tie the knot at their son's christening in surprise ceremony

A COUPLE surprised their friends and family with the ultimate double celebration by inviting them to a christening which became their wedding.
Reece Gooding and Nicola Roach, both 23, decided to tie the knot after inviting 100 people to celebrate their son’s baptism at St George’s Church in Barrow.
Reece, of Newton Street, Millom, said they came up with the idea after meeting with Rev Gary Cregeen to discuss son Cody’s christening.
Only four people knew about the wedding plans including Nicola’s parents, Ann and Martin Roach. Sister and brother-in-law, Claire and Lee Tooze were also in on the act.
“The reaction on people’s faces when we told them what was happening at the end of the baptism service was amazing,” Reece said.
”It was a wonderful day for all our family.”
Tesco worker Reece, had 15 minutes to ask his brother, Michael, to be best man once the baptism had finished while Nicola asked her sister Joanne to be her bridesmaid.
For now, there are no secret honeymoon plans for the newly weds.
“We’ve not sorted anything out at the moment but even if it is a day out somewhere with Cody we will be doing something,” he added.
“In years to come it will be great to show Cody the pictures of his christening and to tell him that his mum and dad were married on the same day.”
