4:30pm Thursday 5th September 2013 in News
POLICE have identified a woman whose body was discovered at a boat yard in Roa Island, Barrow, as Carol Rose Sievwright.
Carol Sievwright (also known as Carol Lewis), 67, was originally from Cardiff and lived in Surrey before moving to Preston in March 2013.
It is believed she travelled to Cumbria at the beginning of August.
Ms Sievwright's daughter Fiona Pointon paid tribute to her mother saying:
“She was an extremely kind and generous person, who was well-spoken and had a strong personality.
"She was a Buddhist since 1990, which was a big part of her life. She will be sadly missed.”
Police were called to the boat yard at 3pm on August 24 after a woman's body was discovered.
Police are not treating the death as suspicious but have made an appeal for information on behalf of Ms Sievwright's family, who are keen to find out more about her movement during the last few weeks of her life.
Anyone with any information which may help Carol’s family is asked to call Liz Gaskell, Coroner’s Officer, on 01229 848868.
