Hundreds shrug off rain to enjoy 156th Lowick Show
6:49pm Saturday 7th September 2013 in News
HUNDREDS turned out to enjoy the 156th Lowick Show today despite the event being marred by wet weather.
Thankfully, the rain did not put off the farmers and smallholders who were keen to show off to the crowd and show judges their top quality livestock. Indeed, cattle and sheep entries were at the level expected while equestrian entries were 50 per cent higher than anticipated.
There were also plenty of high quality entries away from the rain in the horticultural, craft and home-made produce marquee.
Lowick Show secretary Les Ingham, said: "The day went very well, despite disruption caused by the weather, especially the rain in the middle of the day.
"This probably kept some visitors away. However, local people turned out in force to show their support for the show, making it a really fun day."
