TWO rescues ensured the Coniston Mountain Rescue Team was kept busy yesterday.
First, an elderly walker was airlifted from Uskdale Gap on Holme Fell after suffering a suspected heart attack.
The team was called out about 11.20am and 11 team members were involved in the rescue.
Medics from the North West Air Ambulance joined Coniston MRT members at the scene and the walker was treated before being flown to Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
And as they were returning to base, the team was again called out to rescue a mountain biker who had crashed on a trail near Cunsey, which overlooks Windermere.
Team members and paramedics from the NWAS treated him for a suspected dislocated shoulder at the scene and took him to a waiting ambulance.
He was then taken to Furness General Hospital for further treatment.
