Shop and staff go 'organic' for September
11:36am Friday 13th September 2013 in News
STAFF at a shop in Clapham are going 'organic' throughout September and are encouraging others to do the same.
Growing with Grace, a community shop, is inviting customers and local people to join them in a free celebration of Organic September.
A special event takes place at the shop on Thursday September 19 between 6pm-8pm. Staff have pledged to buy and eat only organic products for the month, and are inviting others to join them in making their own pledges at the event.
The celebration will include a candle-lit buffet produced from local organic vegetables and cheeses, live music, and a screening of the 15-minute film Soil in Good Heart.
Organic September is the UK's biggest celebration of all things organic and encourages people to make a small change in their everyday lives, in order to make a big difference to food and farming.
Growing with Grace provides over 100 local vegetable box deliveries and operates a food and grocery store on the main A65 on the edge of the village.
Tony Bennett, from Growing with Grace, said: “Anyone is free to just turn up on the night, it’s our way of thanking local people for supporting the shop this year and celebrating the harvest.”
Neil Marshall from the shop, added: “By choosing organic we can all support a kinder, greener and better food system, from more bees and hedgerows, better animal welfare, and shorter more trustworthy food chains.”
