Motorists reminded of potential traffic trouble caused by Tour of Britain
12:51pm Friday 13th September 2013 in News
MOTORISTS have been reminded of potential traffic disruption as the Tour of Britain arrives in the county on Monday.
The M6 and A66 are unaffected by the Tour and will remain fully open, as will the A590 running from the M6 to Barrow and the A69 heading east from Carlisle to Newcastle.
However, some roads at the start in Carlisle and the finish in Kendal will be closed before and during the race.
Police will also be controlling a rolling road block along the route of the race, which includes sections of the A595, A596, and A591.
It may mean sections of road are closed for up to an hour to ensure the cycle route is safely clear for cyclists and their support teams.
