POLICE are appealing for information after thieves ‘confused’ a shop assistant and made off with almost £300.
A male and female, both with eastern European accents, stole £280 from Hayes Garden World, Ambleside, at around 4.10pm on Saturday, September 6.
Officers say the pair ‘confused’ the shop assistant, who then unwittingly handed over the cash.
The female, thought to be in her early 30s, is described as being of heavy build with olive skin and dark brown hair tied back in a bun. She was wearing a burgundy hoodie with grey sleeves.
The male is described as being in his early 30s, of heavy build, with olive skin and short, dark brown hair.
He was wearing a bright blue hoodie with a white cord and a motif on the left breast.
The couple were thought to be using a black Peugeot hatchback which a third person was driving.
Anyone with information should contact PC Lindsay of Cumbria Constabulary on 101.
