Police investigating theft of 'distinctive' boat from Coniston water
10:26am Tuesday 17th September 2013 in News
THIEVES are being sought after making off with a ‘distinctive’ boat from Coniston water.
Police are appealing for information about the Avon RIB, which has ‘SAFETY YSC’ painted on both sides, which was stolen sometime overnight between August 24 and 25.
It was spotted by a friend of the victim at around 3pm on Sunday, August 25, attached to a battered, yellow Land Rover Defender.
The Land Rover was broken down on the hard shoulder of the M6 at the time, on the southbound carriageway, just past Forton Services.
An unmarked, grey recovery truck was also parked up on the hard shoulder with the boat and the car. It is believed the recovery truck towed the vehicle and boat from the motorway and exited at junction 32.
Police are now urging anyone with information to come forward by contacting Police Sergeant Sara Seath on 101.
