Brides to be travel to Gazette wedding fair at Grasmere
DOZENS of soon-to-be brides travelled to Grasmere at the weekend to get inspiration from The Westmorland Gazette’s wedding fair.
The Wordsworth Hotel played host to local women searching for the perfect cakes, flowers, dresses and much more.
“It’s been a really lovely day,” said bride-to-be Sarah Wilson, from Sedbergh, who got engaged earlier this year.
“Everyone has been so accommodating and it’s been great to pick up ideas about what’s on offer.
“I’ve been really tempted by the Wordsworth Hotel too so it’s been a very helpful day!”
Rooms at the hotel were opened up for locals to look around, while freshly-made canapés were served.
Guests were treated to champagne as they browsed stalls which included Beaulea’s Cake, Steve Holcroft Photography, Oxley’s Blue Fish Spa and A Family Affair.
Pianist Peter Brown kept attendees entertained in a lounge area, while singer and guitarist John Penn belted out the classics to accompany a fashion show of outfits from Mears Ghyll bridal wear.
Christine Davidson, from A Family Affair, hailed the event a success.
“It’s been a really good day,” she said. “There have been a lot of people looking around and I’ve taken some bookings so I think it’s been useful for both us and the guests.
“I think brides-to-be need events like this to help them plan because it can be overwhelming otherwise.”
Macaroons, cream teas and Grasmere gingerbread were also served in the hotel’s conservatory and lounges.
