A SUPERMARKET chain has announced it will be trading within three years on a site in the centre of Grange-over-Sands.
Booths bosses have said a new store will be open for business by the summer of 2016 on the plot currently occupied by Bateman’s Toyota, on the corner of Lindale Road and Windermere Road.
Graham Booth, property director for the chain, said: “We have had to wait a long time to secure this site but this has only increased our enthusiasm to deliver to the residents of Grange and surrounding area the very best of what Booths have to offer.”
Plans for a Booth store in the town were first announced in 2001.
An agreement was later reached between the chain and Bateman's Toyota, which was set to move to a site next to its existing BMW and Mini garages at Kendal Road, Lindale.
But Bateman’s has since been sold to The Vantage Group, which is now looking for a suitable site to relocate to.
Mr Booth said his company would begin construction work as soon as the car showroom had vacated the plot.
