8:52am Friday 20th September 2013 in News
SEVERAL tonnes of frozen lasagne and Shepherd's Pie was shed across the M6 early today - and is still causing a headache for motorists on the morning commute.
All three lanes on the southbound section of the motorway, between junctions 39 and 38, were initially closed following the accident which happened at 2am.
Police said that the lorry partly shed its load of 40 tonnes of frozen lasagne and shepherd's pie. The driver, aged 50 from Hamilton, was taken to Cumberland Infirmary with injuries not believed to be life threatening.
The accident took place at a point where roadworks were already being carried out and one lane was already closed.
Earlier this morning one of the lanes re-opened.
Police have advised that any abnormal loads will have to be held at the nearby Tebay Services.
