A FATHER has admitted killing his partner and six-year-old in their Bolton-le-Sands family home.
Paul Chadwick, 34, pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Lisa Clay, 40, and Joseph Chadwick on the grounds of diminished responsibility during a hearing at Preston Crown Court this morning.
The mother and son were found with stab wounds at their Lowlands Roads home on April 9 after a relative alerted police.
Police found the body of Joseph in his bedroom and Ms Clay in the hallway.
Chadwick was found inside the house with several self-inflicted injuries and was taken to hospital.
Detective Supt Andy Murphy, from the Force Major Investigation Team said: "This was an absolutely tragic case involving the death of a woman and a young child in horrific circumstances and while we will probably never know exactly why Paul Chadwick did what he did I am satisfied with today’s guilty plea which at least spares the families the ordeal of a trial.
"Our thoughts remain with those affected by this most appalling case."
Chadwick will be sentenced at Preston Crown Court on October 30.
