TROOPS stormed Lowther Castle this weekend as over 1,200 people completed the first ever Born Survivor event - a military inspired obstacle course designed by elite armed forces personnel.
The brainchild of an ex-Royal Marines’ Commando and Falkland’s veteran, Born Survivor took place within Lowther Castle’s deer park and featured 40 purpose built obstacles and 1,000 ft of ascent across a 10km course.
Participants crawled through mud, slid down hills and waded through skips full of cold water to collect their military-themed Born Survivor dog tags at the finish line.
Matt Leigh, from Born Survivor, said, “It’s a bold new twist on a tried-and-tested formula and I’m sure all of those who took part will agree it wasn’t your average 10km or mud run; it was designed to be brutal and raw with teamwork being an essential ingredient for success.”
