Jamaica Inn filming schedule for Kirkby Lonsdale is revealed

DETAILS of the Kirkby Lonsdale shooting schedule for the BBC’s adaptation of Jamaica Inn have been revealed.
Filming will take place over three days next month after work transforming parts of the town to look like 1820s Cornwall is completed.
Daphne du Maurier’s original story was set partly in the Cornish town of Launceton but film company Origin Pictures decided the present-day town’s centre was too modern to be used as a location.
Andrew Ryland, location manager for the production company Jamaica Inn Productions Ltd, will this evening hold meetings with local residents and businesses to explain what will be involved in the filming and to respond to any concerns.
*Preparatory work to transform locations will take place from October 7-13;
*Filming in Market Square from October 14-16;
*Filming around St Mary’s Church on October 17;
*Reinstatement work, October 16-17
Mr Ryland also revealed ‘a short scene’ would be filmed on Devil’s Bridge on either October 15 or the following day. He said Cumbria County Council had granted permission to close Market Square and a section of Main Street from Sunday, October 13 to Thursday, October 17, although aceses for residents’ cars, pedestrians and emergency vehicles would be maintained.
“We would also like to park some vehicles on the New Road and in the first pay and display car park opposite the post office to safely keep our horse boxes,” he said.
Mr Ryland said original plans to film on Swine Market and Horse Market had been revised, with filming moved to pedestrian areas nearby to avoid causing disruption to residents.
It is thought the three-part production of Jamaica Inn will star Downton Abbey actress Jessica Brown-Findlay.
