Burton-in-Kendal family's 'mad' travel blog wins top national award
A SOUTH Lakeland family travel blog has won a top national award.
Kirstie Pelling, who describes herself as a ‘misadventure magnet’ and husband Stuart Wickes, from Burton-in-Kendal write about their inspirational adventures with their three children on their own blog.
And their ‘Family Adventure Project’ has won the MAD (mum and dad) Blog Award at a ceremony in London compered by CBeebies presenter Dr Ranj.
The award marks a double success for the thrill-seeking couple who won a BritMums award for best UK Travel Blog earlier this year.
Now in its fourth year, the MAD Blog Awards are the biggest awards for UK mum and dad bloggers.
Founder Sally Whittle said: “There are more than 5,000 parent bloggers in the UK , with a combined readership of almost one million people.
“Mum and dad blogs represent an influential and exciting voice, and the awards celebrates the very best and brightest blogs in the community.”
Mum-of-three Kirstie said: “We believe that being active and adventurous together is healthy and helps build strong family bonds.
“Our blog records our travels and adventures with the aim of inspiring others to get into the outdoors. It also offers tips and ideas on great adventure destinations in Cumbria, the UK and around the world.
“We’re delighted to see it has been recognised at a national level."
