UPDATE: A592 between Newby Bridge and Bowness now open
5:29pm Sunday 29th September 2013 in News
The A592 between Newby Bridge and Bowness is now fully open after a four-hour closure.
Police officers shut the road following a collision between a Honda motorcycle and an Audi A4 estate.
Officers were called to the incident, just north of Fell Foot Park, at 2.55pm this afternoon.
The motorcyclist, from Windermere, was air lifted to hospital with chest injuries and a fracture to the right leg. It was believed he was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital but his injuries were not thought to be life threatening.
A front seat passenger from the car was taken to Furness General Hospital with whiplash.
Fuel from one or both of the vehicles had spilled onto the road during the accident which meant the County Council highways department had to treat it before it could be re-opened.
