CUMBRIAN police have been invited to send two senior officers out to Greece to assist with the search for missing Kendal man Roger Bainbridge.
Cumbria Police have confirmed that they have been invited by the authorities in Greece to help support the family and investigation.
A spokesperson said: "Two Officers are making arrangements to leave for Greece as soon as possible and will be providing assistance to the Authorities in Greece and supporting Mr Bainbridge’s family.”
Mr Bainbridge's son Iain said: "We are delighted to hear that a Senior Officer from the UK will be travelling out to Anti-Paxos to assist with the investigation into my father's disappearance which to date has baffled everyone.
"We are extremely grateful to the local Greek police for their strenuous efforts to date and hope that the arrival of Detective Chief Inspector Duhig will be a great help to them.
"As a family we are also indebted to countless people who have shown us kindness and support and who have prayed for the family at this difficult time"
Roger Bainbridge, 67, went missing on the tiny island of Antipaxos on September 26.
The retired electricity company worker was visiting his sister Maggie Cooper who lives on the neighbouring island of Paxos, at the time of his disappearance.
He was due to return to Paxos for a barbecue at 8pm but did not turn up and there have been no sightings of him since.
