Kendal burglar admits spree
7:06am Wednesday 9th October 2013 in News
A KENDAL man who went on a burglary spree in the town will be sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court later this month.
Ryan Goulding, 26, of Crag View, appeared before South Lakeland magistrates following a spate of thefts at on October 2, stealing items worth more than £2,000.
“A couple woke up to noise from near their property and saw a male acting suspiciously, walking back and forth down neighbouring streets,” said Peter Kelly, prosecuting.
“The next morning people began to contact the police to say that through the night their property had been interfered with.”
The court heard that Goulding, who pleaded guilty to counts of burglary and theft, broke into three outbuildings on Castle Green Lane, Sandgate and Eastgate, where he stole a bike worth £1,400, as well as food and household items.
He then broke into two cars, taking further items.
In mitigation Paul Williams said Goulding was ‘under the influence of illegal drugs’ at the time - and had been in police custody the previous day where he had ‘expressed a real worry’ about his habit.
Goulding has appeared in court 39 times previously for theft and ‘similar’ offences. He was refused bail and will be sentenced on October 28.
