UPDATE: Man dies after being hit by train near Morecambe

A MAN has died after being hit by a train near Morecambe.
British Transport Police (BTP) said they were called to Torrisholme around 10.30am this morning.
Lancashire Police and North West Ambulance Service also attended.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “Officers are now working to determine the identity of the deceased and, at this stage, are not treating the death as suspicious.
“Once we have a confirmed identity we will inform the family and prepare a report for the coroner.”
The train involved was the 9.23am Barrow to Manchester Airport service, which struck the man near the Morecambe South Junction.
A National Rail spokesperson said: “A person has been hit by a train at Lancaster.
“Because of this, there are delays of up to 60 minutes through this station. These delays will continue until further notice."
The line is now open but delays are expected.
