POLICE have confirmed that a body found in the water near to Avon Street, Barrow-in-Furness, is that of missing man Lewis Antoniou.
The 24-year-old from Goldsmith Street, Barrow, went missing on September 28 after a party.
An extensive search was carried out in the area, with Police and Coastguard being joined by friends and family trying to find him.
A body found in the water on Friday has now been formally identified as being that of Mr Antoniou.
A statement posted on the family's website on Sunday said: "Well, it seems that this very sad story does, after all, have an ending.
"On Friday afternoon, Lewis was found on the shore of Walney Island, not far from where he was known to have disappeared."
Mr Antoniou worked as a graduate at BAE Systems, Barrow.
