Walker airlifted to hospital with suspected spinal injuries after Lake District fall

A 61-YEAR-OLD woman was airlifted to hospital in Carlisle after falling on rocks in the Lake District.
The woman, who was walking along the lakeside footpath at Buttermere, suffered suspected spinal injuries.
A Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) and 27 members of the Cockermouth Mountain Rescue team were called to the scene at 3.40pm yesterday.
The woman was treated at the scene by a GNAAS doctor and paramedic before being flown to The Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.
