A SOUTH Lakes environmental group were gathering support in Kendal last weekend to oppose plans for fracking in Lancashire.

South Lakes Action on Climate Change were stationed at the Birdcage in the town centre on Saturday raising awareness of the dangers fracking poses to food production.

“We want to know how supermarkets can guarantee there will be no contaminants entering food,” said secretary Karen Mitchell.

“An unbelievable cocktail of chemicals are involved in digging down while fracking and it all has to come up again.”
