UPDATE: Police confirm person killed in M6 collision was a 42-year-old man from the North East

CUMBRIA police have confirmed that the person killed in yesterday’s M6 collision was a 42-year-old man from North Shields.
The man was the was the driver of a black Ford S-Max involved in a collision on the M6 northbound at Lowgill, between Junctions 37 and 38, near Grayrigg, yesterday.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 11:09am. Police, fire service, ambulance service and Great North Air Ambulance all attended the scene.
The two vehicle collision also involved a white Fiat Florino van. The van was driven by a 45-year-old man from Ellesmere Port and was taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary with minor injuries.
Any witnesses are asked to contact Cumbria police on 101.
